Assistive Technology Exchange Post
The goal of the Assistive Technology Exchange Post hosted by NCATP is to put AT equipment that is not currently being used into the hands of someone who can benefit from it. The Assistive Technology Exchange Post is primarily for residents of North Carolina, although it does accept entries from neighboring states. The program is designed to facilitate equipment exchange between individuals and is not for the use of vendors or distributors.

Biotechnology Center Business Loans
The North Carolina Biotechnology Center provides low-interest loans to early-stage biotechnology companies across the state. The Business and Technology Development Program loans are designed to help recipients meet meaningful research and commercial milestones.
Using these loans, a biotech company could employ more researchers with disabilities who have knowledge and expertise in this field.
Business Link North Carolina
Business Link North Carolina, a service of the NC Department of Commerce, has access to an extensive network of experts who can help a business succeed. Everything you need to know from licenses, government contracting, business plans, tax information to marketing and securing capital, Business Link North Carolina business counselors are available to answer your questions during regular business hours.

Job Development Investment Grants
The Job Development Investment Grant is a performance-based, discretionary incentive program that provides cash grants directly to new and expanding companies to help offset the cost of locating or expanding a facility in the state. The amount of the grant is based on a percentage of the personal income tax withholdings associated with the new jobs.
Part of the business expansion brought about by these grants could be employment opportunities for workers with disabilities.
Job Maintenance and Capital Development Fund Grants
The Job Maintenance and Capital Development Investment Fund is intended to encourage retention of significant numbers of high-paying, high-quality jobs and large-scale capital investment that will modernize processes and provide more globally competitive products.
The jobs retained with the use of these grants could be jobs held by employees with disabilities.
Microenterprise Loan Program
The North Carolina Microenterprise Loan Program works with individuals who have sound ideas for starting or expanding a small business, but may not qualify for bank loans.
With the capital raised from these loans, a small business can employ more workers, including those who have disabilities.

Microsoft Accessibility Resource Center
A Microsoft Accessibility Resource Center provides expert consultation on assistive technology and accessibility features built into Microsoft products. Their specialists understand how disabilities impact computer users and are trained to evaluate the needs of the person with the disability. Some centers offer computer training and many organizations have lending libraries, so a consumer can try a product before purchasing it.
NCWorks Incumbent Worker Training Grants
Businesses grow stronger when their employees are trained in new skill sets, but the cost of training can be expensive. To meet this need, the state offers NCWorks Incumbent Worker Training Grants for qualifying employers.
The incumbent employee receiving training through one of these grants can be a worker with a disability who needs vocational instruction to remain gainfully employed.
North Carolina Assistive Technology Program
The North Carolina Assistive Technology Program has useful information on obtaining assistive technology for a person with a disability living in North Carolina. Assistive technology is any device that enables a person to be more functional. Using the proper technology at work will allow a disabled person to be more productive, and in turn, a better worker
North Carolina Services for Military Veterans
The NC Department of Commerce, Division of Workforce Solutions has dedicated veteran service staff assigned in 60 Employment Service local offices around the state providing high caliber employment and training services to veterans while ensuring that all veterans receive preference and priority for all services as prescribed by federal, state, and local laws. Local Veteran Employment Consultants are ready to assist veterans with their employment and training needs.
One North Carolina Fund
The One North Carolina Fund is a discretionary cash-grant program that allows the Governor to respond quickly to competitive job-creation projects. The North Carolina Department of Commerce administers OneNC on behalf of the Governor. Awards are based on the number of jobs created, level of investment, location of the project, economic impact of the project and the importance of the project to the state and region.
The business expansion brought about by this fund could mean an increase in employment possibilities for job seekers with disabilities.
Small Business Credit Initiative
The North Carolina Small Business Credit Initiative is helping make capital available for business startups and expansions across the state. With more business investment comes more jobs for North Carolinians.
The initiative works primarily through traditional lenders such as banks and credit unions. By reducing the risks involved, it allows lenders to approve some business loans they otherwise could not. Additionally, the initiative invests in venture capital and angel funds, which in turn make equity investments in North Carolina businesses.
Part of the growth and expansion generated by this program could be jobs for workers with disabilities living in North Carolina.
